It is time for western Canadians to take their rightful place in confederation
The Western Unity Group Stands with Westerners
We created the Western Unity Group as a response to what we saw as a hegemony within the sphere of third party advertising. An overwhelming portion of TPA’s in Alberta and the west are beholden to public sector unions or their interests. While this makes sense, these groups should most definitely have their voices heard, there is still a significant lack of representation in this sphere regarding westerners who do not belong to these groups.
Most recently, the power of these advertisers was evident during the mayoral elections of 2021 in Calgary and Edmonton. In these cities, massive groups that represented the interests of the public sector managed to fund the campaigns of their preferred candidates and practically take over our two largest city’s municipal governments by backing their preferred policies and candidates.
We are pushing back against this trend by creating a third party advertiser that stands for private sector employers and employees. This sector of the population, despite being a large majority, lacks a voice in the political sphere in part due to their lack of representation through TPAs. It is time for that to change, it is time for all westernerss to have their voices heard.
